Vicky Lord
Vicky has worked with children, adolescents and adults for over 20 yrs. Vicky uses different therapeutic approaches and techniques to engage with the person, this could include, music therapy, play, talking therapy and EMDR therapy. Vicky's approach is integrative & humanistic focusing on the current difficulties the person is experiencing whether that be anxiety, bereavement, depression, chronic stress, trauma or dealing with a serious illness such as cancer. |
In 2015, Vicky obtained a Masters in Clinical Neuroscience, this has enabled an approach which recognises the neurophysiological and neurobiological brain changes which play a part in mental health or emotional difficulties outlined above and how positively these changes are implicated in a person's recovery and rehabilitation. Combining a neurological and psychological approach enables integrative thinking on solutions that will aid long term well being.
Recently, July 2019, Vicky completed her training in EMDR Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Psychotherapy which is used for different kinds of mental health difficulties, particularly PTSD and traumatic life experiences. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Vicky trained to provide therapy services online using researched methods and clinical supervision to support this transition. Therapy sessions can take place online over Zoom or face to face. During Covid, Vicky worked and continues to work as an NHS Volunteer Family Liaison Officer at the National Hospital for Neurology UCLH. In the last few years Vicky has trained to work with refugees and displaced people living in the UK as a specialist trauma therapist, working voluntarily for Refugee Action Kingston refugeeactionkingston.org.uk/
